You speak a cutting word, transforming it into a spectral blade that flies toward a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 slashing damage.
If the attack misses, you can use a bonus action to snap your fingers and revert the blade back into a word. When you do so, the blade explodes into a resounding boom. if the target was a creature, it must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 thunder damage as the reverberation echos in their ears.
Catrip Upgrade:
The slashing damage increases by 1d8 when you reach levels 5th (2d8), 11th (3d8), and 17th (4d8). The thunder damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th (2d6), 11th (3d6), and 17th (4d6).
