A sinister light emanates from you, casting unnatural shadows around the battlefield. Each creature of your choice within range that can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
In addition, the shadows of affected creatures grow to twice their normal size and move independently of their owners. These shadows remain affixed to their creatures but their movements do not align with their hosts. The shadows cannot be targeted by attacks or spells.
When the spell is cast and at the start of each of your turns, each affected creature takes 4d10 necrotic damage, and you choose either its Strength or Wisdom score. The chosen ability score is reduced by 1d4. The target dies if either its Strength or Wisdom score is reduced to 0. Otherwise, the reduction lasts until the creature completes a short or long rest.
At the end of each affected creature's turn, it can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the shadow effect ends for that creature.
If a creature dies as a result of this spell, it rises as a shadow under your control at the start of its next turn. The shadow obeys your verbal commands and remains under your control.
