Serrated metal chains burst from the ground within a 20-foot square on ground that you can see within range. Three large or smaller creatures of your choosing in that area make a strength saving throw. On a failed save, creatures take 3d6 piercing damage, and have the restrained condition for 1 minute or until the caster’s concentration is broken. If a creature is restrained, it can make one strength saving throw at the end of each of its subsequent turns to attempt to break free.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. Upcasting Chains of Perdition at a level 5 spell slot allows it to target three huge or smaller creatures and upcasting Chains of Perdition at a level 6 spell slot allows it to target three gargantuan or smaller creatures.
