You copy the magical essence of a spell being cast, attempting to hinder its power and potentially use if for your own. Your insight into the casting of the spell allows you to impose disadvantage on the caster's spell attack roll (if the spell requires one) or grant a target of the spell advantage on a saving throw against it (if the spell requires one), provided the targeted creature can hear you. If the spell is of 2nd level or lower, you capture it, storing its magical energy within yourself. Capturing a new spell causes any previously captured spell to dissipate.
Casting the Captured Spell. While you have a spell captured, you can cast it for yourself. The first time you cast the captured spell, you do not expend a spell slot. However, subsequent castings of the spell require you to expend a spell slot as normal.
Capturing a New Spell. While you have a spell captured, you may use Arcane Heist to capture a new spell instead of casting the currently captured spell. Doing so instantly releases the previously captured spell.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you may capture a spell of that level or lower.
