You unleash a beam of twisted, temporal energy at a single target within range. On a hit, the target takes 2d12 force damage and must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target begins rapidly aging a number of weeks equal to the damage dealt as the raw force of time ravages it over the course of its expedited aging. The target then suffers -2 to Constitution Saving Throws for 1 minute or until they succeed on subsequent Constitution Saving up Throws at the end of each their turn.
Additionally, when a target fails its saving throw, you choose one piece of equipment the creature is wearing or carrying. Aging with the target, the item deteriorates, suffering a penalty. An object that is not being worn or carried automatically fails its saving throw, taking double damage as it ages at twice the rate without a creature to share the raw energy with.
- Armor: Its AC Bonus is reduced by 1.
- Weapons: Either its attack rolls or damage rolls (your choice) are reduced by 1.
- Other Equipment: The DM determines an appropriate penalty based on the object's function.
Equipment that has been debuffed in this manner cannot be affected by this effect again for the rest of the combat. The affected equipment has this debuff until properly treated over the course of a short or long rest or until the mending cantrip is cast upon it.
On a successful save, the target does not age or suffer equipment deterioration.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d12 and the equipment debuff increases by -1 for each slot level above 2nd.
