A swirling vortex of ethereal fire forms behind you, growing in intensity as you channel its power. Starting at the beginning of your next turn, the flames rise higher, and on the turn after that, they reach their peak.
If you maintain concentration for the full duration, the next fire spell you cast before the end of your turn has its damage dice maximized and deals an additional 2d10 fire damage.
If you cast a fire spell before the charge is complete, the spell instead gains an additional 2d10 fire damage, and Blazing Apex ends immediately.
A creature that damages you while you are concentrating on this spell must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or take 2d6 fire damage, as the unstable flames lash out in retaliation.
At Higher Levels.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the early-release bonus increases to 3d10, and a fully charged spell ignores resistance to fire damage.
