You attempt to disrupt the weave around a creature in the process of casting a spell. If the creature is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, the spell is changed to any other spell of your choice of the same level or lower. The casting creature may choose targets as if they cast that spell and the spell slot is still expended. The new spell is cast at the same level as the original.
If you choose a spell not in your spellbook, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the creature's spell is changed as normal. On a failure, a surge of magic power creates a random effect. Either: the DM may choose a new spell, an effect of the DM's choice happens (see Wish), or draw a tarot card and the effect described on the Magic Surge table happens instead.
You may also forgo choosing a spell and instead draw a tarot card on the Magic Surge table. You may also spend a tarot card that matches the table entry to gain that effect.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the spell is changed if its level is less than or equal to the level of the spell slot you used.
