You channel the cold, distant energy of a dying star, summoning the power of Hadar to blanket an area in unnatural darkness. You target a point within range and cause a swirling, dark vortex of stardust to appear at that location. The vortex causes the following effects:
-
Gravitational Collapse: All creatures within a 20-foot radius of the vortex must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is pulled 10 feet toward the center of the vortex and is knocked prone. On a successful save, the creature is pulled 5 feet toward the center, but not knocked prone.
-
Veil of Twilight: For the duration of the spell, the area within a 40-foot radius becomes suffused with dim, flickering light as if during a partial eclipse. Creatures within the area have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and can't see more than 30 feet away. Creatures also have disadvantage on attack rolls against any creature outside the area, as the dimming light distorts vision.
-
Fallen Star's Curse: Any creature that starts its turn within the affected area must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is afflicted with a debilitating curse that lasts for 1 minute. The creature suffers disadvantage on attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks as the weight of the dying celestial energy presses down on them. The curse can be ended by a Lesser Restoration, Greater Restoration, or similar magic. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
