The target must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 per slot level above 2nd.
If you roll a natural 1 on any of the damage dice, the warp energy backfires—roll a d20. On a 1-5, you take half the total damage of the spell as feedback.
