Charmed (...)
You hum a slow, eerie tune, the melody twisting into the mind of a creature within range, filling it with creeping paranoia and unease. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = your spell save DC). On a failed save, for the duration:
- The target is unsettled. It has disadvantage on Insight and Perception checks to detect threats or hidden creatures.
- Fear takes hold. The target has disadvantage on saving throws against the Frightened condition and Fear-related spells or effects.
- Doubt breaks focus. The target has disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws made to maintain concentration, resist deception, or detect illusions.
- The target is isolated and vulnerable. it cannot receive the benefits of the Help action or similar teamwork-based abilities.
The target is unaware that it is under a spell—it believes its paranoia is completely rational.
At Higher Levels:
- 3rd-level: You can target two creatures within range.
- 4th-level: If the target fails the saving throw by 5 or more, it also becomes Frightened of a vague, unseen presence for the duration.
- 5th-level: Once per turn, as a bonus action, you can force the target to make a melee or ranged attack against a creature of your choice within range if they fail another Wisdom save.
- 6th-level: The affected creatures cannot communicate their paranoia—any attempt to explain their fear results in nonsensical or contradictory speech.
- 7th-level: The spell no longer requires concentration, and its effects persist even after its duration expires until removed by Greater Restoration or Wish.
- 8th-level: The caster can use Detect Thoughts on affected creatures at will, without requiring concentration.
- 9th-level: The affected creatures forget their original identity and believe they have always served the caster, making them loyal allies until their memories are restored.
