When casting this spell you bring back the souls of recently deceased creatures to do your bidding. You can raise the souls of creatures (excluding fiends) who died within the last month, they do not need to be completely intact but do require a majority of their body. You can create up to seven undead servants who become Shadows and use the stat block found in the monster manual, but take on the appearance of wolves. While they are raised in this way they cannot recall information about their past lives. Spells that target corpses but do not work on undead can no longer work on the bodies from where the souls came from.
While the souls are in this form they regard you as their master and are friendly to you. You can spend a bonus action to mentally command them otherwise they defend themselves and follow you. They cannot recall information about their past lives nore do they care about what made them the way they are. They will follow the last command given to them even after the caster who summoned them is dead. For each day they remain to roll a d20, on a five or lower their souls pass on to the correct plain and they cannot be resummoned.
For every higher spell level, you can raise two more dead souls as shadows as long as there are bodies.
