Cataclysmic Convergence

You create a rapidly swirling circle of pure, bright lightning and thunder energy around a single target you see within range. The circle creates bright light in 40-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet around the target. After a brief moment, the circle explodes with a thunderous boom that can be heard up to 300 feet away as five bolts of lightning fire out of where the circle was and converge on the target; striking nearly simultaneously. Each lightning bolt, whether they hit or miss, echoes the circle's thunderous boom with the same volume. In this instant the bright light created by the circle flashes and increases to a 300-foot radius, and fades out completely at the start of your next turn.

Make five separate ranged spell Attacks, one for each of the five bolts of lightning at the target. On a hit, the target takes 4d12+20 lightning damage. If at least 4 of the ranged spell Attacks hit, the target is Paralyzed until the end of your next turn. This effect may occur during the ranged spell Attack rolls as the damage is not simultaneous.

Because the ring is surrounding the target and the attacks are not coming directly from you, you ignore all cover and any disadvantage.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, the spell creates and attacks with an additional bolt of lightning for each level above 7th.
