You weave an illusion over an area of 120 ft transforming the landscape into a surreal, dreamlike environment. The terrain might shimmer with vibrant, shifting colors; trees could take on bizarre, twisting shapes; and rivers might flow with tea, ink, or glowing liquid. The illusion can make open fields appear as mazes of hedge walls, roads turn into spiraling staircases, or cliffs rise into precarious towers of playing cards.
You can also create and modify the appearance of structures or features, such as floating tea tables, mushroom forests, or a clockwork bridge stretching into the air. However, the spell does not create, conceal, hide or disguise creatures directly.
The illusion incorporates visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory elements, enabling you to drastically alter the feel of the terrain. You can choose for certain areas to become Difficult Terrain, or make difficult terrain appear smooth and passable. Any illusory object (such as a mushroom or stone) that is removed from the spell’s area disappears immediately.
The illusion includes additional whimsical effects of your choice, such as:
- Inverting gravity for objects within a small section (e.g., teacups floating up and then gently falling back).
- Objects that giggle, whisper, or hum faintly when touched.
- Illusory pathways that lead in circles or vanish when approached.
Detecting the Illusion:
A creature that physically interacts with the illusion or spends an action investigating it can attempt a Wisdom (Perception) check at disadvantage against your spell save DC to discern its illusory nature. On a success, the creature perceives the true terrain hidden beneath the illusion and can see through the illusion. However, the illusion’s other sensory effects, such as smells, sounds, and feel remain intact, allowing creatures to interact with the dreamlike elements as if they were real. Creatures with Truesight can also see through the illusion but the illusions other sensory effects also remain as well.
