You summon a boulder from an unoccupied space adjacent to a surface within range, like a floor, wall, or ceiling. The surface does not need to be made of a single contiguous material, but it must be mostly made of earth, rock, sand, stone, metal, ash, or other suitable earth-like materials, and it must be at least 1 foot deep for the spell to be cast.
When the boulder appears, you use magic to hurl it at one creature or object that you can see within range. Make a spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 9d6 bludgeoning damage and must make a Strength saving throw, being pushed back 15 feet and knocked prone on a failed save. On a miss, the target takes half damage and is not moved.
The spell attack you make with this spell determines cover and line of effect as if it were made from the location where the boulder was summoned, rather than from your location, and it ignores the normal disadvantage that ranged attacks suffer against prone targets.
This spell deals double damage to objects and structures.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 2d6 for each spell slot level above 4.
