The caster enchants a magic rope or ribbon of 20ft in length to be magically prehensile and under the mental command of the user. For the duration of the spell, the rope or ribbon is considered a magical weapon and cannot be damaged by normal means. This spell requires one free hand to cast. As part of the casting action and as subsequent actions for the duration of the spell, it can perform one of the following actions.

Lash - The caster makes a single melee attack against a target up to 20ft away. As a weapon it has the reach, versatile and finesse properties. The caster is considered proficient in its use. The damage dice of the last is 1d8 plus modifiers and is considered a magical weapon for the purpose of hitting creatures which require a magic weapon to do so.

Gag - A single target makes a strength saving throw, on a failed save the ribbon or rope wraps around their mouth, gagging them and causing them to be unable to speak or cast spells with verbal components. On each following turn they may use an action to make a strength save to escape the gag to restore their voice. A creature which doesn't require use of a typical humanoid mouth to speak is not effected by this action.

Trip - A single target makes a strength saving throw, on a failed save the ribbon or rope wraps around their legs, entangling their legs causing them to fall prone. On each following turn they may use an action to make a strength save to escape the trip and be able to stand again. A creature which lacks legs is not affected by this action.

Leash - A single target makes a dexterity saving throw or their throat is wrapped around by the ribbon or rope. While leashed, the target cannot move more than 20ft from the caster as long as the caster holds onto the other end of the rope. If the either caster or target attempts to move further away than 20ft from the other, both make an opposed athletics check - whomever scores higher is able to move themselves and the target in the direction of choosing.

Tie Up - A single willing or incapacitated target has their hands bound together behind their back in a manner which prevents them from using their hands including to wield weapons or shields, cast spells with somantic components or make skill checks that would require the use of hands. This functions as equivalent to them being tied up by mundane means.

The Gag, Trip, Leash and Tie Up actions can be released by the caster as a bonus action, but cannot be done so on the same turn the action was done on. If the caster drops the rope or ribbon, the spell ends but the rope will continue causing the associated action until they are able to escape or be otherwised freed. Other than lash, this spell can only affect a creature one size larger than the target, and incorporeal beings such as ghosts and shadows are not affected.
