You attack the essence of a creature you can see, attempting to sever the bonds that tie it to existence. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw, taking 12d10 psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature that fails this save gains a level of exhaustion immediately, and again every 10 minutes for the next hour. A creature that gains a level of exhaustion this way can repeat the saving throw to end this effect. On a success, the effect ends, but all accumulated levels of exhaustion remain.

A creature killed by this spell ceases to exist, and cannot be resurrected by any means short of a wish spell.
