You gain this cantrip as part of the Shadow Monarch Subclass.

Shadow Extraction: You reach into the remnants of a fallen creature's soul, pulling forth its shadow to serve you. Choose up to 2 creatures that have died within the last 10 minutes within range. The shadows of the creatures are extracted and bound to your own shadow, entering your Shadow Pocket — a personal dimension that can hold the echoes of the creatures you’ve claimed. You may use Shadow extraction in combat to use the shadows extracted immediately aiding you for 1 minute before vanishing into your pocket dimension.

Certain creatures deemed powerful enough by the DM are considered greater shadows. these creatures require you to make a Charisma Check (DC 10 + the creatures CR) to extract their shadow. You may attempt this on the same creature up to 3 times before their remaining soul shuts you out.

Shadow Extraction: Any creature you extract with this spell becomes a lesser shadow. While certain creatures may be classified as greater shadows by the DM You cannot extract the shadows of Fiends, Celestials, or creatures with a Challenge Rating (CR) higher than your level. Additionally, creatures deemed too powerful or significant by the DM may be immune to extraction.

Shadow Pocket: You can store a number of shadows equal to your Charisma Modifier + Proficiency Bonus. Extracted shadows remain in your Shadow Pocket until summoned, dismissed, or replaced.

To summon a lesser shadows extracted with this spell you must use the Shadow Summoner class feature. To Summon a greater shadow you must expend a spell slot of higher level detailed in monster classifications below. Any Greater Shadow summoned by this spell will also cost shadow points based on the monsters CR.  You may only have one greater shadow summoned at a time.

Any creature summoned with this spell will stay summoned for 1 min before being dismissed back into your shadow. You can also dismiss any summoned shadow at any time. While summoned, you can to order your shadows in combat. If a shadow dies in combat it is lost and cannot be summoned again.

Greater Shadows are classified by their CR:

  • Elite Grade: CR 2 — Requires a 1st-level spell slot and 2 Shadow Points to summon.

  • Knight Grade: CR 3 — Requires a 1st-level spell slot and 3 Shadow Points to summon.

  • Elite Knight Grade: CR 4 — Requires a 2nd-level spell slot and 4 Shadow Points to summon.

  • Commander Grade: CR 5 or 6 — Requires a 2nd-level spell slot and Shadow Points equal to monsters CR to summon.

  • Marshal Grade: CR 7 or higher — Requires a 3rd-level spell slot and Shadow Points equal to monsters CR to summon.

  • Grand Marshal Grade: CR 10 or higher — Requires a 4th-level spell slot and Shadow Points equal to monsters CR to summon.

Higher Levels: As you gain levels this cantrip increase the number of creatures it can extract with one cast by 1 at 9th level,  and 14th level.
