You form an unstable orb of pure force between your hands and hurl it. Select your target and roll a 1d8.
On a 2 through 7, the spell works as follows: using your action, make a spell attack, dealing 8d8 force damage on a hit.
On a 1, the spell fizzles, though your spell slot is still expended and your action is used.
On an 8, the spell erupts from you, forming a 150-foot-long, 10-foot-wide Line centered on the target you chose. Each creature in the Line makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 8d8 Force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. Should this eruption occur, you are pushed back 5 feet and fall prone.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 5.
