A surge of electrical energy erupts from your hands, arcing toward a target within range. Choose one creature that you can see within range, and the lightning arcs to them in a jagged blast of energy. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 1d8 lightning damage, or half as much on a successful save. If the target is wearing metal armor, they have disadvantage on this saving throw.
Additionally, if the target is reduced to 0 hit points by this spell, a bolt of lightning arcs out to a different creature of your choice within 10 feet of the target, dealing 1d4 lightning damage to that creature. This secondary target can make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid taking the damage.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for the primary target and 1d4 for each secondary target for each slot level above 1st.
