You speak a word — not shouted, not pleaded — just spoken. A single syllable carries with it the unbearable weight of certainty.

Choose one creature within range who can hear and understand you. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or suffer a subtle mental break, based on your intended tone. You choose one of the following effects:

In Combat: (Duration: 1 round)

  • Their movement speed is halved.
  • They have disadvantage on their next Charisma-based check.
  • They cannot take reactions.

Out of Combat / Social Use: (Duration: 10 minutes)

  • The creature suffers disadvantage on Insight or Persuasion checks made against you.
  • The creature regards you as more authoritative, granting you advantage on Intimidation checks against them.
  • The creature is unable to lie to you in the next sentence they speak (once).

The effect is subtle. Most creatures do not recognize this as magic unless they succeed the saving throw by 5 or more, or they can see through magical influence.

Creatures immune to the Charmed condition have advantage on the saving throw.
