You choose a single insect, or a selection of a single type of insect numbering no more than a dozen. For the duration of the spell, the chosen insects are under your complete control, and you may issue telepathic commands to them while within your sight.
You can have the insects follow any number of simple commands, such as following another creature, swarming to cause a disturbance, or you can dismiss them entirely. When choosing a single insect, you can set more difficult instructions for it, such as eavesdropping on a conversation, but how well the creature is able to follow through with these commands and relay information is still limited.
This spell lasts for one hour, or until you cast it again, at which point the insect(s) originally under your control are immediately released from the effects of the spell.
