You are able to learn a number of qualities about the creature whose blood you use for this spell. The target (if it is still alive) must make a Wisdom saving throw. If a target knows you're casting this spell, it can fail the saving throw voluntarily if it wants to be observed. On a successful save, the spell fails, and you can't use this spell against that target again for 24 hours.
Roll a d4 and choose a number of qualities to learn from the list below, equal to the die score:
- The creature's type
- The creature's size
- The creature's age (if applicable)
- The creature's gender (if applicable)
- The creature's alignment (if applicable)
- If the blood carries any traces of poison or disease
- If the creature is within 20 miles of your location
- If the creature is still on your plane of existence
If you can provide more than 1 pint of blood for this spell, any target has disadvantage on its Wisdom saving throw, and you may roll 2d4 to determine the number of traits to learn.
If you cast this spell using a spell slot, in addition to the information learned above, you will also see a brief glimpse of the moment right before the creature shed blood, from its perspective.
* - (At least 1 ounce of blood from a creature which has not been dead for more than 24 hours, which is consumed upon casting)
