You’ve learned to slip between the folds of reality, vanishing into a place that exists between shadow and light — a cold hush where time forgets to breathe. In this twilight space, you are neither here nor there, untouchable and unseen.

Veilstep
When you are targeted by an attack or spell from a creature you can see, you may use your reaction to instantly shift into the Umbral Veil — a thin shadow-plane woven between the material world and some deeper, forgotten realm.

The triggering attack or spell automatically misses, and you vanish completely from sight. While in the Umbral Veil, you are invisible and untargetable to all creatures for up to 1 minute. You leave behind no sound, scent, or physical presence — your footsteps make no noise, the wind does not touch you, and even your breath seems to dissolve in stillness.

This effect ends early if you take an offensive action (such as making an attack or casting a spell that affects another creature), or if you choose to end it on your turn (no action required). Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

While within the Veil, the world appears as if submerged in grayscale fog — soundless, weightless, and impossibly distant. You walk the edge of oblivion.

However, reality doesn’t appreciate being cheated.

  • Every dawn, roll a d6. On a 1, your thread frays:

    • You lose your reaction until your next long rest.

    • Any stealth rolls that day are made with disadvantage when you're being watched by a sentient creature (even passively).

"Some days, the veil turns inside out — and then it’s you who can’t hide."

* - when being targeted by a spell or attack from a visible attacking creature.
