"This is no blessing. It is power unchained — the light of a god who betrayed his kin to forge dominion in their ashes."
You unleash a divine strike gifted by Animus, the Betrayer God — a twisted radiance born not of mercy, but conquest. This corrupted light does not heal, it dominates.
When you cast this spell, you must immediately make a melee weapon attack as part of the action. On a hit, the target suffers your weapon’s normal damage, plus an additional 3d8 radiant damage. This is not holy light — it is corrupted, forger’s light, burning with divine fury severed from justice.
The radiant damage increases as you reach higher levels:
-
5th level: 4d8
-
11th level: 5d8
-
17th level: 6d8
If the target is Frightened, Restrained, Charmed, or Grappled, it takes an additional 2d8 radiant damage as the divine weight of Animus crushes their resistance.
At 5th level, the target must also succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or become Frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
At 11th level, if the target fails the saving throw, it also becomes Blinded until the start of your next turn.
If the target is a Celestial, Undead, or Fiend, it cannot resist or reduce the radiant damage from this spell, even if it would normally be immune or resistant.
Animus' Smite may only be granted through a divine contract with Animus or at DM discretion. It is not a natural spell — it is a gift of power with hidden cost.
