Posted Aug 10, 2025I think the spell is good, it just needs some tweaking:
This is way too weak for a 9th level spell. You can either lower the level or make the spell more powerfull. Considering there is already a lower level spell that does something similar, I would make it more powerful. I'd make it permanent, and not need concentration. With that, I would say It's probably enough, but that's only if there are a lot of high CR dragons in your setting.
Edit: I would also improve the wording: "You summon a dragon of a CR equal to yours, or, if you don't have any, equal to your level. The dragon is friendly towards you and your allies, and it follows any verbal commands you give it."
Edit 2: I would also add a high gp cost to the spell if you do make it permanent.
