🌑 Wrath of the Abyss
5th-level necromancy/evocation hybrid
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet (self-centered burst)
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Paladin, Warlock, Fighter (Rune Knight or Echo Knight with DM permission via feat), Blood Hunter (homebrew-compatible)
📖 Description:
You unleash the fury of the Abyss within you in a violent explosion of light and shadow. A 30-foot-radius sphere centered on you erupts in a pulse of black flame and silver lightning. Each creature of your choice in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take 6d10 necrotic damage and 6d10 radiant damage, or half as much on a successful one.
Non-hostile creatures in the area automatically succeed if they are within 10 feet of you and share your alignment (or are considered “allies” by the DM).
⚠️ Aftershock (Exhaustion Effect):
Immediately after casting this spell, you must succeed a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, or gain 1 level of exhaustion due to the immense internal strain.
✨ At Higher Levels.
When cast using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, increase both damage types by 1d10 per slot level above 5th (e.g., 7d10 necrotic + 7d10 radiant at 6th level).
🌘 Optional Effect (Roleplay Variant):
When cast, your form briefly becomes shadowy and distorted, your voice echoing as though layered with thousands of whispers. This may frighten weak-willed NPCs or enemies, at DM’s discretion.
📜 Lore Tie-In:
This spell is said to originate from Artorias’s final stand in the Abyss, where he channeled all of his inner light and darkness into a cataclysmic pulse, slaying dozens but nearly destroying himself. Only those who walk the razor’s edge of virtue and corruption can wield it without being consumed.
