Created by the Dwarven mage Azack the Bitter, this spells imbues a creature's eyes with harmful magic, creating a searing pain located solely in the eyeball. It is written that Azack would cast this spell repeatedly on his Elven prisoners. Being careful not to kill them, the spell would eventually have permanent effects, leaving them blind and in constant pain. At this point Azack would set them free, both for his amusement, and as a cruel warning to other Elves.
One creature that you can see within range must succeed on a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save the target takes 8d8 Necrotic or Radiant damage (your choice) and suffers from the Blinded condition until the end of its next turn. On a successful save the target takes half damage and their vision is heavily obscured past a radius of 10 feet until the end of their next turn. This spell has no effect on creatures without eyes.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 5.
