You shroud yourself in pulsating, magical thorns that lash out with divine spite. While the spell is active, you gain the following benefits:
-
Any creature that hits you with a melee attack while within 5 feet takes 3d8 necrotic damage.
-
You gain resistance to bludgeoning damage, piercing damage, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
-
Once per turn, when you are hit with a melee weapon attack, you may use your reaction to channel your pain. The attacker must succeed on a constitution saving throw (DC equals your spell save DC) or become frightened until the end of their next turn.
This armor of suffering appears as bloody ethereal chains, jagged bone plating, or rune-etched spectral thorns depending on the caster’s personal torment.
