You extend a thin strand of blood magic toward a creature with an open wound, siphoning vitality and deepening the injury.
Choose one creature you can see within range that has taken damage (i.e., has an open wound). The creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1d8 necrotic damage and begin bleeding until the start of your next turn. While bleeding, the target cannot regain hit points by any means.
On subsequent turns, you can use your action to sustain the bloodletting. If the target is still bleeding, it takes an additional 1d4 necrotic damage. The target makes a new Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the bleeding effect.
-
If a creature is no longer wounded (e.g., healed above maximum HP or treated magically), the spell ends early.
-
You must maintain concentration and line of effect to continue the spell.
-
The spell ends early if you cast it on another creature or lose concentration.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the initial necrotic damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
