You touch a creature that has been dead for no more than 1 day, and a valid item (a +1 or greater Weapon, or a +1 or greater Armor). Upon the spells completion, the soul of the recently dead creature is bound to the item. If the item is magical, the bound soul can use the magical effects of the item i.e. activating a Flame Tongue sword, or animating an Animated Shield. The item otherwise functions as a sentient magical item with the bound soul's Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Roll on the Creating Sentient Items table in the Player's Handbook to determine the vision and hearing distance for the bound soul.
If the item is taken up by a wielder, the voice of the bound soul can be heard, though if the wielder and the bound soul do not share a language they cannot understand each other.
There may be a way to pull the soul back out and revive it in their original body. However, this stopgap measure will work for now. Not to worry Selica, you won't have to be stuck in there forever. -Archmage Variel
