You speak a single name aloud — whether your own or an alias — and bind it with whispered magic. From the moment the spell takes hold, the name becomes charged with power. Whenever any creature anywhere in existence speaks that name aloud, the spell is triggered.

Only one instance of Whispername can be active at a time. Casting it again ends any previous effect, regardless of which version is used.

Upon casting, choose one of the following two forms:

The Listening Whisper. This form lays a passive enchantment on the chosen name. Each time a creature speaks the name aloud, roll a d6. The effect depends on the result, you can take a reaction to use the rolled effect:

1. Eavesdrop. For 1 minute, you hear everything spoken by the creature that triggered the effect, as if standing beside them.
2. Eyes Unseen. For 1 minute, you see through the eyes of the speaker, perceiving what they see in vivid flashes.
3. Whisperback. You may send a brief message (25 words or less) directly into the speaker’s mind. They hear it as a whisper only they can perceive.
4. Mark. You know the speaker’s exact location for the next 10 minutes, including planar position.
5. Mindtrace. You glimpse a surface thought of the speaker at the moment they uttered the name.
6. Gatepull. You teleport to a space within 10 feet of the speaker, as if by the teleport spell.

The Calling Whisper. This form sets the name as a summoning sigil. Anyone who speaks the name aloud exactly three times in a row (with no other words in between) initiates a summoning effect. The speaker must do so intentionally and with full awareness. You choose, at the time of casting, any number of the six effects (see d6-table) to be linked to the summoning.

These effects happen in order of your choice and take place immediately upon the third spoken instance of the name. The summoning fails if the speaker mispronounces the name, includes other words between repetitions, or is within a magical silence or antimagic field.

You are always aware when the name is used in this way, and you may choose to ignore the summoning if you wish.
