You wave your hands in very specific gestures, and instead of transporting yourself to another plane of existence, you bring a portion the the plane you choose to your current plane of existence. You can specify a target destination in general terms, such as the City of Brass on the Elemental Plane of Fire or the palace of Dispater on the second level of the Nine Hells, and that destination appears and forms around the area.
Creatures beside you will face the effects of the plane within it's boundaries, like heat or cold. If you choose you can bring those effects to the extreme and have them deal 4d6 to whom ever is within the boundaries.
You can use this spell to trap an unwilling creature within the plane's boundaries. Choose a creature within your reach and make a melee spell attack against it. On a hit, the creature must make a Charisma saving throw. If the creature fails this save, it is transported inside of the plane of existence you created. The plane of existence you brought to your plane will stay there and leave a mark on the map unless you dispel it later. If you travel to that plane normally, that portion will have your plane of existence resting where it was before.
