For the duration, sunlight spreads from a point within range and fills a 30-foot-radius Sphere. The sunlight's area is Bright Light and sheds Dim Light for an additional 30 feet.
Alternatively, you cast the spell on an object that isn't being worn or carried, causing the sunlight to fill a 30-foot Emanation originating from that object. Covering that object with something opaque, such as a bowl or helm, blocks the sunlight.
Until the spell ends, all creatures under the sunlight's Bright Light are protected against certain types of creatures: aberrations, celestials, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead.
The protection grants several benefits. Creatures of those types have disadvantage on attack rolls against the target. The target also can't be charmed, frightened, or possessed by them. If the target is already charmed, frightened, or possessed by such a creature, the target has advantage on any new saving throw against the relevant effect.
If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 5 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.
