You launch a Mote of flame toward a target you can see within range. Five motes then leap from that target to as many as five other targets of your choice, each of which must be within 20 feet of the first target. For each of the new targets, 5 more motes then leap to as many as five new targets of your choice, each of which must be 15 feet from the target which the mote that hit it came from. For each of the newest targets, 5 more motes then leap to as many as five other targets of your choice, each of which must be 10 feet from the target which the mote that hit it came from. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts.
Each target makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d8 Fire damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.All targets are burning.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The fire damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 4.
