At your command, the land begins to die.

The grass shrivels and blackens, leaves drop from trees like panicked birds, and vines unravel from their roots as if trying to flee. From all directions, decay itself is drawn toward a single point within range, gathering into a spiraling storm of lifeless matter. This cyclone (a 10-foot radius, 40-foot-high column) churns with shredded leaves, splinters of bark, clouds of choking pollen, bone-dry soil, and invisible threads of rotting essence ripped from every living thing nearby.

The cyclone does not merely stir debris, it devours life, pulling in the dying breath of the surrounding forest, draining color from flowers, and silencing birdsong as if the world is holding its breath in fear.

When you cast the spell, and again as an action on each of your turns while you concentrate on it, you can cause the cyclone to lash out at a creature within its area. That creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 3d8 slashing damage from the whirling, jagged debris and 1d8 poison damage from the rot-laced spores within. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.

The environment surrounding the storm (up to 30 feet from its edge) visibly wilts, pales, and cracks, leaving behind a scarred ring of unnatural decay.
