A magical barrier appears between yourself and a source of damage that would reduce your hit points.  Roll 1d6 and reduce the incoming source of damage by the amount rolled.

As part of the same reaction, you can choose to expend a spell slot to reduce the incoming damage even further, in addition to the spell's normal damage reduction.  The extra damage reduction is 1d6 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d6 for each spell level higher than 1st, to a maximum of 5d6.

After casting this cantrip, you can't cast spells other than cantrips until the end of your next turn.

The spell's base damage reduction increases by 1d6 when you reach level 5 (2d6), level 11 (3d6), and level 17 (4d6).
