You choose a corpse in range, and make it violently explode in a shower of flesh, bone and blood, all infused with harmful necromantic energy.
Each creature in a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. They take 8d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the corpse used consists entirely of bones, the explosion scatters sharp bone shards, dealing piercing damage instead.
You can also target living undead creatures with this spell to make them explode. If the targeted creature is under your control, this always succeeds. If the creature is not under your control, it makes a Constitution saving throw, taking 8d6 force damage on a failed save, or half damage as much damage on a success. On a failed saving throw, if the creature is killed by this spell, they also explode.
Making a corpse or creature explode with this spell destroys it.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
When using a 5th or 6th level spell slot, you can select up to two different targets. When using a 7th or 8th level spell slot, you can select up to three different targets. When using a 9th level spell slot, you can select up to five different targets.
