A beam of crackling energy streaks toward a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes damage equal to your Eldritch Blast cantrip. However, this version of Eldritch Blast forgoes all Eldritch Invocations in favor of the following;
When hit, the target, and all creatures within 5 feet of them, must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be restrained by tendrils of dark energy until the spell ends. A Large or larger creature has advantage on this saving throw. If all targets succeed on the save, the tendrils disappear.
While restrained by this spell, the target takes 1d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns A creature restrained by the tendrils or one that can touch the creature can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, the target is freed.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.
