You create a swirling barrier of crystallized blood that surrounds you in a 15-foot radius sphere centered on you. The barrier moves with you and provides the following benefits for the duration:
Ranged weapon attacks against creatures inside the barrier have disadvantage.
Creatures inside the barrier have resistance to necrotic damage.
When a hostile creature enters the barrier for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it takes 2d6 piercing damage from the swirling blood crystals.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can expand or contract the radius of the barrier by up to 5 feet, to a maximum radius of 30 feet or a minimum radius of 5 feet.
Additionally, when a creature inside the barrier takes damage, you can use your reaction to sacrifice 5 hit points to grant that creature resistance to that instance of damage.
Blood Sacrifice. When casting this spell, you take 3d4 damage as your blood forms the protective barrier.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage dealt to hostile creatures increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd, and the hit point sacrifice for your reaction ability decreases by 1 for each slot level above 3rd (to a minimum of 1).
