When casting this spell, describe a belief the truth of which you wish to convince yourself. The description must be 25 words or fewer. If you fail the saving throw, you are charmed for the duration. While charmed this way you are totally convinced of that belief. You may not voluntarily fail the saving throw. Creatures immune to the charmed condition automatically succeed the saving throw.

No amount of non-magical persuasion can alter that belief for the duration of the spell. Any contrary beliefs you may hold are either changed, or you concoct a fictional account to reconcile the contradictory beliefs, or you simply fail to notice the contradiction. Any evidence later encountered that suggests the falsehood of the belief will similarly be explained away or ignored while the spell lasts. The self-deceptive nature of the belief cannot be detected through an insight check, Zone of Truth, Detect Thoughts, or similar means. The belief can be temporarily altered by the suggestion spell. The spell also erases all your memories of having cast it, or contemplated casting it.

The spell ends if you fall asleep, enter an elven trance, or otherwise lose consciousness. If you take psychic damage, repeat the saving throw, ending the spell on a success.
