As a creature teeters on the brink of death, abjuring magic flares to defy the inevitable. Instead of falling unconscious, the target remains standing. The damage that would have reduced the creature to 0 hit points instead grants it that many temporary hit points. These temporary hit points last until the end of the creature’s next turn.
Immediately after the spell takes effect, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature gains one level of exhaustion.
A creature can only benefit from this spell once per long rest.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can choose one additional creature within range for each slot level above 3rd. Each target must meet the triggering condition and can only benefit from this spell once per long rest.
