This ritual is used by priests and officials in Arnast to determine the type of soulstone present inside another, which in turn determines their place in society. Upon casting, a gem corresponding to the nature of the target's soul appears on either their forehead or left hand (their choice). The gem is determined by the DM, and each is associated with a damage type, as indicated below:

Gem Damage Type
Ruby Fire
Emerald Acid
Diamond Lightning
Sapphire Cold
Pearl Radiant
Onyx Necrotic

As long as the gem remains embedded in the target's skin, once per long rest they can imbue their next melee or ranged weapon attack with an extra 1d8 damage of the type associated with their gem. Only a humanoid can be affected by this spell, and each humanoid can only have one gem at a time. Should the gem be removed and the spell cast again, the same gem as the first will reappear in the same place it appeared last time. If the target does not have a left hand, it will appear on the forehead, regardless of where it appeared the first time the spell was cast.
