Effect:
-
By touching a non-living object within range (≤5 ft), you create a temporary physical copy of that object. The copy is real (it has weight, functions, and can be used like the original), but visually appears in black and white (everything normally colored appears in shades of gray). The copied object must not exceed 5 ft in any dimension or 150 kg in weight
-
To manifest the object, you must immediately sacrifice hit points at the time of casting: 20 HP at level 3, plus +10 HP for each slot level above 3rd. These HP are deducted from the caster’s current HP (if this reduces the caster to 0 HP, normal rules for unconsciousness/death apply)
-
The copied object has hit points equal to the whole number value of (HP sacrificed ÷ 4). If the copy’s HP drops to 0, it breaks and disappears (round down if necessary)
Restrictions and Exceptions:
-
Artifacts or divine relics cannot be copied without explicit DM approval
Use with Lower-Level Spell Slots:
-
The spell can be cast with a 2nd-level slot, but the caster must succeed on a d20 roll and get strictly greater than 15 (i.e., 16–20) for the spell to work. If successful: the copy lasts 12 hours. If failed: the spell fails and no HP is lost
-
The spell can be cast with a 1st-level slot, but the caster must succeed on a 2d20 roll and get a total strictly greater than 30 (very difficult) for the spell to work. If successful: the copy lasts 1 hour. If failed: the spell fails and no HP is lost
Scrolls:
-
If the spell is cast from a “Copy” scroll, the HP sacrifice is still required to create/activate the copy
Duration increases by +24 hours for each slot level above 3rd
* - (a drop of the caster’s blood (consumed) and material equal to the weight of the original)
