You bind a feather to the threads of causality, linking it to a single event you name when casting the spell. The feather transforms in subtle or dramatic ways to foreshadow the event, manifesting before it occurs.
When you cast this spell, name one specific event (such as “a fire starting in the stables” or “the assassination of the duke”). The GM secretly rolls 2d4 to determine how many hours in advance the feather reacts to the chosen event. The feather will change in appearance or condition to reflect the event (smoldering for fire, dripping blood for death, stiffening with frost for cold, etc.), warning you of what is to come.
This spell does not directly alert you. If the feather is lost, destroyed, or ignored, the warning may be missed.
If the named event never occurs, the magic unravels and the feather disintegrates at the moment the warning should have appeared.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the warning manifests 12 additional hours earlier for each slot level above 2nd.
