Damage/Effect

You beseech your deity for the might to destroy their foes and become a vessel for their wrath. This spell can only be cast while facing an enemy your deity abhors (i.e. a cleric of Bahamut could cast this spell while facing a chromatic dragon or worshipers of Tiamat, but not a Mindflayer or a Rakshasa). This is open to DM interpretation and you may ask the DM if an enemy would qualify. For the duration of the spell you gain the following benefits:

  • Your type becomes Outsider (or another type appropriate for your deity).
  • You may use your casting modifier in place of your strength or dexterity for attacks and the extra attack feature if you do not already have it.
  • Your attacks do an extra 2d6 damage of a type appropriate for your deity, this damage ignores resistance and treats immunity as resistance.
  • You gain 40 temporary hit points.
  • You may use your casting modifier instead of your constitution for concentrations checks for this spell.
  • As an action you may cast bless/bane without the need to concentrate and without spending a spell slot.

This spell puts tremendous strain on the caster, when the spell ends you must make a constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure you take 1d4+1 levels of exhaustion or half as much on a successful save, minimum 1. This effect bypasses any immunity to exhaustion. The DM may impose advantage or disadvantage on this save to reflect your deities attitude towards your actions while under the effects of the spell. Should this cause you to have 6 levels of exhaustion you fall unconscious rather than die.
