You place a curse on a creature that you can see within range. Until the spell ends, all of the following effects apply to the target:
- Choose one ability when you cast the spell. The target has disadvantage on ability checks made with the chosen ability.
- When the target would deal damage to one or more targets during its turn or as a result of a reaction, it takes your Charisma modifier ( {{modifier:cha}} ) as radiant damage. This damage may only be applied once per group of targets.
Example: A creature cursed by your Answer casts Flaming Sphere once, dealing damage to three targets. The creature receives damage once. If one of those targets later ends its turn adjacent to the sphere and takes damage again, the creature does not take damage.
Example: A creature cursed by your Answer uses Extra Attack to Cleave twice within a round. The first cleave hits 2 targets. The creature takes damage once. The second cleave hits 4 targets. The creature takes damage once more (for the second attack.)
- You know when Answer deals damage, but do not learn about the target's whereabouts or the source of the triggering damage.
If the target enters a plane or extradimensional space inaccessible to your patron, these effects are suppressed until it returns to space your patron could reach.
If the target drops to 0 Hit Points before this spell ends, you can take a Bonus Action on a later turn to curse a new creature.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. Your Concentration can last longer with a spell slot of level 3–4 (up to 8 hours), or 5+ (24 hours).
This spell counts as a warlock feature for Eldritch Invocations that modify Hex or a warlock feature.

This is intended to be a Celestial Patron alternative to Hex. It has some flavor changes and deals radiant damage. Since it will likely be applied less often than Hex would with a multi-bolt eldritch blast, it applies more damage.
Changelog
