Having been persued by hungry trolls, ravaging wargs, and galumphing rust monsters, the ranger Arbornel knows he is not always the hunter. He understands that when he takes a deer, the time is short before the odor of that kill reaches the nostrils of nearby predators. To most beasts, their sense of smell far exceeds any other in reliably finding food or avoiding becoming the same. Scent blows in the wind and remains behind on the trail; as such, that scent often determines life and death. Be it supernatural or mundane, detection in the wild depends on your scent. A Cloak of Elvenkind is no match for the nose of a wolf.
For the duration, you hide a target that you touch from detection by the sense of smell. The target can be a willing creature or a place or an object no larger than 10 feet in any direction. If the target is a creature, anything the creature is wearing or carrying is also affected until the spell ends.
The target may still be detected by other means such as sight and sound.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can add an additional target for each slot level above 1st.
