Broderick's Bodacious Bridge

You conjure a magnificent, shimmering bridge of radiant force that spans a gap of your choosing within range. The bridge materializes between two solid surfaces that can support its weight, forming a safe passage across chasms, rivers, lava flows, or other hazards.

The bridge can be up to 100 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 10 feet thick, arching or angling as you wish to connect two points. Its surface gleams with your chosen aesthetic- from elegant marble steps with silver railings to a glimmering rainbow arc of prismatic light. The bridge feels solid and stable to those permitted to cross it.

When you cast the spell, you may designate any number of creatures that can cross the bridge safely. To all others, the bridge is insubstantial and attempts to step on it pass harmlessly through, as though it were mist. You can also open or close the bridge (no action required) while you are within 30 feet of it. When closed, the bridge vanishes completely, becoming imperceptible.

While the bridge persists, ethereal attendants appear resembling spectral laborers, engineers, or elegant stewards, as you decide. They maintain the bridge’s stability, polish its surface, and can provide assistance to those crossing (such as steadying ropes or holding lanterns). These attendants cannot attack, block, or directly harm any creature, and vanish if they move more than 30 feet from the bridge.

If the spell ends while creatures or objects are on the bridge, they gently descend to the nearest safe space below or at either end of the gap.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the bridge’s maximum length increases by 50 feet and its duration increases by 1 hour for each slot level above 3rd.
