You touch an object or a willing creature, imbuing them with kinetic energy that temporarily enhances their movement and reflexes by shifting their body's "gears." Until this spell ends, the creature gains the following benefits and traits:
-
Gearshift Boosts (3/long rest): The creature can choose to activate one of the following effects as a bonus action, up to 3 times per long rest. Only one effect may be active at a time, and the effect lasts until the end of their next turn:
-
Speed Gear: Double the creature’s movement speed until the end of their next turn. Opportunity attacks against them have disadvantage.
-
Impact Gear: The next melee weapon attack deals an extra 1d6 force damage and pushes the target 10 feet if it hits.
-
Reaction Gear: The creature gains advantage on the next Dexterity saving throw or can take one additional reaction this round (such as making an opportunity attack or using a readied action).
-
-
Overclock Strain: After using a Gearshift Boost, the creature must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or take 1d4 force damage as their body struggles to handle the sudden burst of speed. The DC increases by 2 for each subsequent use without a long rest.
This spell can only affect one creature at a time. Casting it again on another creature ends the effect on the previous one.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the number of Gearshift Boost uses increases by 1 for every two slot levels above 1st (4 at 3rd level, 5 at 5th, etc).
