A roiling curtain of sentient crimson blood surges from the ground, pulsing with faint heartbeats and echoing whispers. The wall is up to 30 feet long, 10 feet high, and 1 foot thick. Its surface ripples with distorted faces that seem to scream silently.
- The wall provides heavy obscurement, though faint shapes can be seen through it.
- Ranged weapon attacks passing through the wall are made with disadvantage.
- The wall reduces fire damage that passes through it by half.
- Cold damage that passes through the wall freezes a 5-foot section, rendering it inert (AC 10, 15 HP, immune to necrotic).
Any creature that starts its turn within 5 feet of the wall must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 3d8 necrotic damage and have disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of its next turn, as the wall leeches its vitality and dulls its senses.
When the spell ends, the wall collapses in a splash of gore. All creatures within 10 feet must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 necrotic damage and become blinded until the end of their next turn.
At Higher Levels
When cast using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, increase the necrotic damage by 1d8 per level above 4th.
